Created in collaboration with Kate Degman, AIA Seattle’s Committee on Homelessness, Real Change, and Schuchart Dow, To House is a temporary exhibit aimed at busting myths about homelessness through personal stories and infographics. Originally conceived for the 2018 Seattle Design Festival, the exhibition has since also been displayed at Real Change’s annual banquet.
Kate and I led the content creation and graphic design direction for this project, which included conducting interviews with Real Change vendors, photographing those vendors, gathering data on homelessness and executing all graphics for the project.
In addition to the information provided within the exhibit, visitors were provided with the opportunity to speak to Real Change vendors about their experiences and a takeaway postcard with tangible ways to help people in need of housing.
Thanks to everyone personally involved in this project—Anton Dekom, Alexander Froehlich, Elizabeth Golden, Forest Hooker, Angus MacGregor and Ming Yuan from the AIA Seattle Committee on Homelessness, Camilla Walter and Emma Spickard from Real Change, Ben Rand from Schuchart Dow, Lauren Gallow for her copywriting and editing expertise, and Real Change vendors Addis Michael Jr., Ed Arthur, and Lisa Sawyer for sharing their stories and being the faces of this exhibit.
